Can a standard wireless router be used to recieve a wireless signal from another router?

Can a standard wireless router be used to recieve a wireless signal from another router and then re transmit it to a laptop, pc etc with the intent of extending my wireless coverage at home? Or can the two routers be connected via ethernet and somehow have the same end result?

  1. One of the routers would need repeater functionality for that to work. You could connect the LAN ports on both routers together to make them members of the same network. Just leave one of the WAN ports unplugged. You will also want to make sure you turn off DHCP on the second router and change its IP address so it doesn't conflict with the first router.
