How do you find the Network Key in order to setup another wireless connection in your home?

I'm on the administator laptop and I'm trying to set up a wireless connection on another computer in my home. The connection shows up on the other computer(as well as a neighbors), but it tells me I need the Network Key in order to access it. How do I find the network key?

  1. You'll need to access the "wireless security" page on your router that will show the key. Of course, you'll need to know the login information to gain access to the router... Generally, most people with wireless routers can navigate to http://192.168.1.1 which is the default LAN IP address for your router. (Your ISP will assign your router's WAN ip address). Simply go to 192.168.1.1 (or whatever you set your LAN IP), provide the login information, then browse to the "wireless security page". If you are using WPA encryption, it will likely be a simple passphrase. If it's WEP, you'll need to copy the shared key information as it will be a (seemingly) random series of characters. Depending on if your network uses WPA, or WEP, those will be the key(s) you are looking for.
