How do I get XP to recognize my wireless card?
I recently had to replace the hard drive in my Medion laptop. It's only 1 year old. I put the same version of Windows XP on it as I had before. I cannot connect to my wireless connection because it doesn't seem to recognize that I have a wiresless card. What could the issue be and how might I go about solving it. $50/hr or whatever to call Microsoft just doesn't make financial sense.

- When you replaced the O/S you deleted the wireless adapter drivers. The device should have been detected at some point but for what ever reason was not. You need to load the proper drivers but that depends on knowing what sort of wireless adapter you have in order to locate the proper drivers. If you have the wireless adapter disk, just use it to start.
- When you double click on the two little computers on the bottom toolbar, do you see a wireless connection under LAN/High Speed Connections?
- Did you load the software disk that came with the card. You can go on line if you don't have the disk and download the drivers for it.
- Did you add the mac address of your wireless laptop to your router?
- If you install a new wireless card for laptops. Always install the drivers first then insert the card afterwards. It wont work to put the card in first then load drivers afterwards. Software drivers before hardware when dealing with wireless adapter cards.
