How do I add another wireless card to a network?
I have a netgear rangemax "ruckus" router and I'm getting a wireless card for my computer. My stepdad's computer and my mom's laptop are both connected. Can somebody give me step by step instructions on how to allow another connection? My uncle and stepdad both had to call the geek squad to set their networks up, but I would really like not to do that. Thanks.

- Unless your routher has something like MAC Address limiting, you just join. If it has a WEP or WPA passphrase, you are going to need that.
- Wireless connections, when setup by someone who has any clue at all about network security, use a combination of MAC address authentication and encryption such as WPA-PSK. It's not hard to do, but you need to do it or it won't work. Find out what the MAC address is for the new wireless card and add it to your router allow list. Also find out what the encryption key is and provide that to the wireless card via the configuration software.
- You don't have to do anything at the router, just plug in the new card and follow instructions.
- if you know the password for the network security, just browse for wireless networks, connect to the same one the other computers are using, it will prompt you for the passphrase, enter that, and it will connect. You will need to get into the router security settings if any of the following are true: 1. Router configuration is not written down (so you can see the passphrase) 2. If the router has been set to block all other MAC addresses other than those listed (a nice option on most routers) You should only need that passphrase and to know which network to connect to. Most technicians when they do configurations write that stuff down and tell you not to lose it!
