How do I retrofit my Compaq Presario desktop with a wireless card so it can connect to my household network?
We have three computers in the house using an Apple Airport Extreme wireless router. My desktop is currently connected to the router with an ethernet cord but I want to move it to another room in the house. Is there a card I could install that would pick up the signal from ~30 feet away and through several walls? Do I have to go get this installed somewhere, or is it a plug-in device? I know nothing about this stuff. Thanks!

- Actually you have a few options. You can pick up a wireless PCI card , but by your own admission, you're technologically challenged, so that may not be the best option. You can obtain USB wireless devices either in a "Dongle" (pen drive format) or a larger version such as the LinkSys USB wireless device. The dongle versions are cheaper by far and they come with the necessary software to make it work. Good Luck
