Is a DHCP server required to have a registered IP address? Or can it have a private NAT address?
I am setting up a network with on access router and a firewall. The access router and the firewall both have registered IP addresses. Does my domain controller, acting as a DHCP server have to have a registered IP, or can it have a private address?

- DHCP has to have a registered IP address
- The router will be bridging the networks so your DC can have a non-routable address
- it can have a private IP there is no reason to have a DC publicly accessible. if you need to authenticate to it externally you should set up vpn tunneling.
- no need.only the router connecting to the internet should have one..others in the home network can be assigned private addresses
