How to shutdown a school computer using its IP address?

How can I do this. I have two problems: #1. I need to know their IP address. They are linked to the same WIFI connection I am. #2. Command Prompt is disabled due to school privacy, how to I enable Command Prompt and what command do I use to access that other computer with its IP adress?

  1. Youngster trying to hack a network at school. It's very hard, I don't even know if it's possible at your school. I wouldn't be messing with this, you could get into a lot of trouble, possibly expelled.
  2. Just quit school. It's a LOT less messy than the whole expulsion thing. And your parents won't have to pay any damages if you just quit.
  3. that very hard to do! they have a good secuity system
  4. get a life buddy
  5. For #1, you might be able to run Angry IP and see the hostnames. http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipscan/ Otherwise, if you can get an e-mail sent from that workstation to you, you could (in most cases) look at the e-mail header to determine the sender's ip address. As far as #2, if you get an error saying command prompt is disabled, they probably did that using Group Policies. If that is the case you will most likely need to have administrative privileges in order to change the setting. If the command prompt tool was disabled using a registry hack, perhaps you could modify the registry to get the command prompt back? Start Registry Editor. (Start->Run->"regedit") Go to, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System If there is a DWORD key, named "DisableCMD" , delete it. (or give it a value of 0) Hope this helps. By the way, read up on your school's acceptable use policy (AUP) ..., what you are trying to do probably falls under "unauthorized access" and can get you in big trouble.
  6. Ask your schools IT dept, they would be happy to help you.
