How do I hide my IP address from hackers and the like? I heard there is a way to do this?

I know high speed users maintain the same IP address, while dial up users get a new one each time they sign on, which is safer.

1. The ONLY way to hide your address is to use an anonymous proxy. Neither is "safer"
2. If you have defender, then turn on your firewall. Control Panel, Security, then Firewall. XP is vunarable, the updates are suppose to prevent this.
3. Unplug the power cord from your pc, take to your neighbor's house and ask him/her to do you a favor.
4. there are softwares to protect ur privacy and hide ur IP from unwanted people I recommend, Hide IP (shareware).
