Would an N-Card work with it... and can you tell me what kind/letter that this router is. Here is a list of wireless cards that i can get IntelĀ® 3945 802.11a/g Mini-card Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Mini-card Intel Next -Gen Wireless -N Mini-card Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Mini-Card I don't really know what the difference is but I want the longest range possible and the highest speed if possible but i would be willing to sacrifice speed for range. - Your router is a B/G type so you need a G wireless card. But if you really want the max range you should upgrade your router to a N type with the most range. But to answer your question The first and last are the only ones that will work best with your router.
- The router in question works on B or G. They both have the same range. The only difference is the speed. B has a speed of 11Mbs. G has a speed of 54Mbs. I would go with a G band card. As for the N band card, it would be overkill. First off you would need to confirm it worked with a G or B router (I think they do). It would be a waste of money unless you planned on upgrading your router to a N band router in the future. FYI, N band ROUTERS get the most range (~80m). G & B get about half of that. The router determines the range, not the card in the laptop. My favorite aftermarket card brand is Linksys (a sister company of Cisco). If you are ordering a dell laptop I would stick with the dell G card.
