How do I setup a wireless home network router and connect my laptop computer?
I have home DSL router network and ive been using a laptop with external card for many years just fine. I bought a new laptop and it says there is an internet connection and says the wireless strength is excellent, yet when I open the Internet Explorer browser for the internet it doesnt connect. I ran the Dell network diagnostics and it says the office router is messed up, yet it works with the other laptop. Is there some setting in the internet browser I am overlooking, since the signal strength is excellent?

- run your install disk in new lptop from dsl router
- Is your router encrypted? If so you need to match the type of encryption on your new new laptop. Or you may need to set your IP settings to obtain IP address automatically. Do this: start>control panel>double click network connections>right click on the wireless connection>properties>in the box in the middle click internet protocal (TCP/IP)>right below that click properties>obtain an IP address automatically and choose obtain DNS server address automatically. Hope this helps.
- this site will give you a sony vaio laptop just for completing some quick online tasks! really recommend it, especially if you're broke but really want/need a laptop (like me).
