IP Address?
Does every computer have a different IP Address? Like if you had a computer with an ip address and then you threw it away and then you got another computer would that have the same IP Address?

- The IP address is not on the Computer it is assigned by your ISP(Internet Service Provider) Basically your modem will be designated an IP address from your ISP so your computer doesn't really have IT'S own IP address. The computer has IT'S own MAC address which is what the ISP uses to assign IP's. Good Luck HTH.
- You can kind of think of it as a street address for your computer or other kind of network device. Your IP address can be used to identify a specific computer or other network device easily since every number is different. There is a lot of technical jargon associated with IP addresses but as long as you think of it as your computer's street address, it's much easier to understand. No, your IP address will always be the same as long as it is on the same network connection. So by throwing out your old computer and using a new on will not change the IP address.
- you can find your IP address at www.IPchicken.com
- It depends on your connection. If you are using dial up you get a different ip each time you log on. If you are using cable everyone shares the same ip. However, there are ways to change it.
