  2. go to my computer on the left task pane click on my network place , click on setup a home or small office network. follow the wizard it will ask if you want to enable printer and file sharing click on yes. you will need to do this on all your pc that you want to network. good luck
  3. first of all are your pcs both in the same workgroup, can they see each other, have you set up file and print sharing. to do this in xp just follow the wizards, i would imagine its the same in vista. go to control panel network connections and somewhere is the wizard to share files folders and printers, hope that helps or at least points you in the right direction, also dont forget windows help files.
  4. This is what you should do: 1. Open up My Network Places. (If it isn't in your Start Menu, go to My Computer and find it in the Other Places column) 2. In the Network Tasks column, select: "Set up a home or small office network" 3. A wizard should come up. Hit Next 4. Hit Next again 5. Make sure "Yes, use the existing shared connection for this computer's Internet access [reccomended]" is sellected. Hit next. 6. Under Computer Description put whatever you want. For example you could put "My Laptop". Under Computer name, give it something simple such as LAPTOP. Hit next. 7. Under workgroup name put something unique such as home or myworkgroup. something different than the default. Once you've named your workgroup hit next again. 8. Make sure "Turn on file and printer sharing" is selected. Hit next. 9. Hit Next again 10. When it finishes configuring your network select "just finish the wizard, I don't need to run the wizard on other computers" Hit next 11. Hit finish. Once you've done this it may ask you to restart. Do so. Now do the same thing on your desktop but where it asks for computer name name it Desktop or similar (you can't have the same name for both) After both computers have gone through this wizard, open Control Panel on the computer that the printer is installed on. Select Printers and Faxes Right click the printer you use as your default printer. Select: Sharing... Select the option: Share this printer and give it a name if it doesn't automatically give one for you. Let it do it's thing and then on your laptop go to Control Panel>Printers and Faxes and click Add a new printer Click Next Select: "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer. Click Next Select Browse for printer. Your printer you just shared should come up. Select that and hit next until the wizard finishes. Print a test page. Hope this helps!
