Wireless Card?

I know that I need one for wireless internet but is there a way I can find out if there is already one built in to my laptop? Thanks. I bought it from a used computer store.

  1. If you have the owners manual it should tell you, also try going to the manufacturers site find your laptop and read the specs this should tell you.
  2. If there is not a wireless card found in Network Connections from the Control Panel of your My Computer then you do not have it built it. Also check the specs on the manufacturer's support page for more detailed specs. You most likely can pick up a PCMCIA wireless card that will plug right into your laptop. Maybe even get a OEM factory wifi card if your laptop DID support.
  3. In your user guide see how to turn on/off the wireless (even if you are not sure if you have it), once found try turning it on at a WIFI hot spot or by a wireless router... after a few seconds of being on there should be a little icon in the lower left of your windows screen and if it turned on and found a wireless net work it would say "Wireless networks found" That is the easiest way to tell... or you can check your original config when you bought it... most likely if you purchased it in the past 2 years it has wireless already... unless it was a custom build
