- It should have instructions in the box. Here's a crude pic, where || represents some kind of cable or wire. || - Coax/Phone Broadband Modem || - Ethernet Wireless Router || - Ethernet PC Anything that says "internet" or "WAN" is the path up the list above. Anything else is the path down the list. For example the Router could have WAN on it, connect that to the modem, while it will have some numbered ports 1-4, use 1 to begin with for setting it up.
- Yes, 1. Open the box and take everything out. 2. Read the directions. 3. Follow the directions. 4. Use wireless network. To be honest, the directions outline it better than we can. Especially considering the fact that we don't know WHAT router you are talking about. Different routers have different setup procedures.
- It's simple Line from phone company or cable company goes into dsl or cable modem. Line out from modem to wireless router (WAN/LAN Port) There are probably 4 remaining ports on the router labeled 1-4. A line from any one of these can go to you computer's network connection. For setting up the wireless network you will want to "log in" to the router. Open an internet browser and type the IP address of the router. Look at the instructions for this number. Typically something like 192.168.1.1 Once logged in, go to the wireless section and change the SSID to be something descriptive like [last-name]-network or you home office business name. Then, make sure you secure the router. Again, follow the instructions for this. Now, if you have a laptop you want to connect wirelessly, turn it on. It should find your router and, if secured, you should be prompted to enter the passcode you created when you were configuring your router.
