Wireless home network, includes router and wireless adapter?
I have a wireless home network. My router is attached a dell windows xp that has DSL. The other XP has a wireless adapter attached. I have internet access on the 2nd computer, but it won't show the computer with the router in the "view workgroup". Why?" Sometimes, I use a laptop in this network. So, I should have said my network consist of 3 computers. (Two Dell Desktop XP's and a Portable Vista Home edition)

- Do you have both set to the same workgroup and sharing set up? Ther will need different computer names.
- The connection is assumed not to be a 24hr connection which is the case. It is a on demand connection. There however should be an icon on the task bar to indicate the status of your connection, the second system should make an automatic connection. Please be aware that if you failed to set up at least WEP security it is real easy for someone to ride your connection. The best security is to turn off the router when the net connection is not in use. Given time (small amount) WEP and WPA can be cracked.
- well.....if there's only 2 PCs then you don't have to have a Router just make a Computer to Computer network,,,,,and if you want to see the other Computer/s in "view work group" you must set these options in each computer.....from the Desktop.....right-click on my computer>poperties>computer name>change >>.write the same work group name in each computer and give each computer a different name"make sure that the workgroup name is the SAME" then restart you computer and it will 100% work...good luck info_info3@yahoo.com
