Belkins wireless card better than built in card of 802.11b/g?
I have a toshiba laptop (satelite A135-S7404) with a wireless integrated 802.11b/g wireless card. However I live in college dorms and my friend said I can use his router for internet service, the problem is I cannot pick up the signal in my room. I can go outside my room by about 7 feet and get a perfect signal from his linksys router. The guy in the next room can get a perfect signal from my friends router also (he lives like 7 feet to the left of me). So you can see I need a few extra feet of wifi signal strength. I went to walmart and found a belkins wireless external card for 49.99 that claims to go 1000 feet. Would this card be more powerful than my current card? It does not say on my laptop how far my wifi card picks up so im wondering which one is stronger. Thanks

- Before you buy an external wireless card, see if you can borrow one to try or have someone with a wireless computer try it in your room to see if it works. It may not be the computer at all. There may be steel in the wall between your room and your friend's with the router such as pipes or heating ducts that block even the best signal.
