Wireless PCI card problems?

I have a Buffalo super G MIMO wireless router at my downstairs workstation, and until recently I also had a Buffalo super G wireless PCI card for my upstairs computer. The PCI card worked extremely well, strong reliable connections and consistently fast speeds, until the card died the other day. I went and bought a Wireless G Belkin PCI card to replace it, but I have huge problems. It's the standard G card not super G, but the speed is ridiculous! I'm am getting 8-10 Kb/s downloads. My normal (wired) internet speed is around 500Kb/s, and the old Wireless card got around the same. What the heck is wrong?

  1. I hate to say it," you get what you pay for" You should have gotten a super g adapter. The cheaper one is not the best in this case. Sorry.
  2. That usually what happen when the adapter doesn't match with the super G standard on your router. Go into your router setup and change the speed from SuperG to standard g or mixed mode b/g. Do the same thing for your adapter.
