Help!My XP Home SP2 com is having difficulty connecting to the wireless home network. Other machines are ok.Y?

I have 2 laptops (1 win2k, 1 XP home) and a PC (win2k) connecting to the wireless home network (all wirelessly). I checked the DHCP of the wireless router, it is issuing 10 IP addresses so it should be fine. The xp home laptop is having difficulty connecting to the router. It says limited or no connectivity. This laptop is brand new. I can browse and can see the router. I am using passphrase. I have set the wireless adapter to use Open and WEP setting on the adapter. Can someone let me know what is wrong?

  1. limited or no connectivity usually means you're connected to the wireless network with an incorrect security key... try disconnecting and reconnecting from the network...
  2. Check the firewall, in advanced there is a setting you can add to allow dhcp, this sometimes causes a problem. Try to connect fairly close to the wireless in case it's a range problem. This does seem to happen on XP sometimes, if you can't get around it try going to the tcp/ip properties for the card and set an IP address 2 or 3 higher than the dhcp. Set the same netmask, and set the first dns to the IP for the router. This normally works. After you have used this you may be able to revert all the settings to automatic, but this is not always possible.
