I just received a Netgear 54 Mps wireless PC card. What is it? and What can I do with it?
Do I need to subscribe to anything in order to install it in my computer? I have a wireless router (Linksys WRT54v5) which I am using with DSL service, If I install this device on my computer will there be a conflict with my wireless connection, my DSL and this device that I have been given? I am a newbie when it comes to computer gadgets so please explain in plain layman's terms and have the patience and understanding to deal with my seemingly clueless questions. Thanks for your help.

- 1. you don't have to subscribe anymore 2. hmmmp! your wireless pc card can connect to your linkys router with DSL service so your PC can have internet too... 3. when you install your wireless pc card to your computer it will be fine there is no problem on that... if you have any question don't hesitate to ask again...
- Yes you can use the card with your Linksys wireless router. If you install the card you can take you laptop to where they have wifi internet ( internet cafe etc) The signal is the same frequency as cordless phones ( two work together) range is 300 feet inside , 1000 feet outside If the encryption is turned on inside the router you will need the acccess code If you do not have the install cd , go to the netgear site Most cards have more than one version ( v) and you need the correct driver for it to work To log on - on the right bottom of your screen is a wireless network symbol - right click - scan for the network - when you see it " connect" - if there is"encryption " ( security) you will need the access code you have to enter it twice like a password two things of merit - change the channel from the default channel 6. Your neighbours route will drift in you will get a good signal but no internet change the channel ( in the router ) to anything else - channel 1 and 11 are first picks - you can use all the computers on the network with the router. The limit is how much you are downloading in relation to your internet speed this is a very useful program www.networkmagic.com
