Would using a Cingular GSM wireless PC card connection(ie. fairly slow) for Yahoo Voice calls be successful?

I am an over-the-road truck driver who just got $350 in extra charges on my cell bill for business calls made in Canada. I am considering upgrading my DataConnect(already have unlimited for US) for the tune of extra $50/mo to get 100 mb of Canada roaming use per month to pair up with Yahoo Voice to try to beat the $.59-$.79/min rates in Canada on my cell to make calls. Sounds great in theory, but does anyone have any idea if it would work practically with the connection speeds these GSM wireless connections provide(if it helps, my wireless card is a Sierra 850)?? Just want an expert opinion or two before I spend major $$ on something that may just flop on me!!!

  1. When you're within range of a major town with a large cell network you will have enough speed to accomplish what you want but, when you're out roaming the data speed is usually knocked down to 14.4kbs on that card and that is not enough ... most likely if you attempt it you'll have very choppy calls that will be if not completely unintelligible very annoying.
