Do I need a wireless PC Card?
I have an HP laptop with 802.11b/g... I'm able to connect in certain buildings for free. My question is do I need a pc card to be able to connect anywhere I would like? I travel a lot and would like to access the internet, do I need to get a wireless provider or something else?

- It depends on where you stay. Most hotels have broadband, if not free, cheap. You can go to Starbucks just about anywhere and they have it. If you get a wireless broadband through a wireless phone company, make sure they guarantee that it will work in the places you are going.
- you could get a 3g card to access the web from a cell phone company- t-mobile uk is £7.50pm for a capped wireless broadband (they roll back to gprs when no umts is available, ie dial-up speed) or use a 3g phone as a modem using bluetooth or just piggy back on other networks using you built in wifi
- your laptop allows you to connect to any unsecured network. but to answer your question you would need a card from a cell phone outfit to be able to connect even without being by a network. this would be like the laptop version of dial-up but with burst cache speeds - normally 144 vs 56 dial-up.
