IP address.?
I have an IP address and I'd like to track it. I'd like to know the home physical address of the IP address, or who it's assigned to, something to help me find out who it is. Is that possible?

- Yes. Go here: http://www.arin.net/whois/index.html Enter the IP in and hit search. That will tell you who owns it. Then go here: http://www.antionline.com/tools-and-toys/ip-locate/ That will tell you where it is. That's probably as close as you will get without a court order, or access to ISP records.
- run a tracert on it to see where it goes for beginners.
- possiable yes legal no id help u out do add ur email n ill contact u
- go to run type cmd , ipconfig / ping
- I use Trace.
- Hi Yes and No , depends on the ISP were it came from , but still , what you want to try first is the TRACE IP command , now , for that you need some softwares for it , www.tucows.com or www.networkingfiles.com there are the networking software for that kind of job you want to do . You can also try google with the search string trace ip or trace home ip
- Type the IP address into a web browser and see if it resolves to a domain name. Then "whois" the domain name to find out who it is registered to (you can use www.whois.com - on the 2nd page after is checks the domain availability, select the "Whois search" link at the bottom).
- Go to http://www.whois.net/ and then go to "WHOIS Resources" (lower right). There are three different ways to enter an IP and see who owns it. If they've filled out all the info, it will also say where they are located, etc., but sometimes that info is missing, or is a company address that doesn't tell you much. Good luck.
- My dear friend, we *all* have an IP, it is not that you have an IP. IP stands for "Internet Protocol", and it's the unique numerical ID that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) gives you while connected to Internet, it is the numerical identification of a connection on any network. If you want to know your IP go to http://www.getip.com However, what you're looking for is called the MAC address. - If you want to look at the MAC address of your modem, it should be somewhere on a sticker attached to your modem. If you want to know if the MAC address of your computer, right-click on the connection from your PC to the Internet, then go to "Status", to "Support", to "Details" and look where it says "Physical Address" on the right side of that you will see your MAC address. That MAC address is the very unique identification of your modem, or PC, or NIC card and acts like a "fingerprint", no other connection has that same MAC address. Your IP could be static or dynamic. If it is static it will not change even if you disconnect from Internet, it is dynamic if it changes every time you connect, your ISP will provide you a new IP. The MAC address however will not change, and it is stored in the hardware of your modem, or PC network card, your router, etc. every other device that connects through a network (and the Internet is a wide range network) has a MAC address and it is fixed, never changes. If you want to know the info on someone else's IP, go to http://www.getip.com put the IP there if you know it, and it will tell you the information of that person's ISP and what country, city and state (or province), and ISP is that person from. - You will not get any personal information about that individual, if that is what you want to know, then you are asking for too much, and you'd be looking for trouble. I hope this helped.
