IP address ??

this may be a daft question but how many LAN connections should i have ?. when i goto the Windows IP Configuration screen it tells me that i have 3 connections-1 that says IP address-1 that says autoconfiguration IP address and i know the other is my bluetooth,is this normal ? my pc is running win XP Home sp2 and i get my modem/router from ntl

  1. well you can have as many connections as the pc can take, as long as everything is working fine, dont worry. to me it seems like everything is okay.
  2. You should have one actual LAN connection. The others can be anything like your bluetooth, Firewire 1394 port(I've seen this on many computers) or even a built in wireless card. As long as the one with the IP address is the LAN card, your fine.
  3. You can have as many as connection as you have.. basically it is related to your hardware device. if you have 2 lan card then you can have 2 lan connection. you probly have one onboard lancard, an extra lan card and a wireless one!!
  4. you may have a lot of lan connections in 1 computer.every lan has it's own ip address value when you do an ipconfig. eg. you have ethernet adapter,wireless adapter,usb & bluetooth installed on the computer,when you do an ip config,you would get several ip address assigned to the adapter(if it is active)
