IP address....?
I found a website that displays where on a map IP addresses are (for example, you would enter your IP address and it would show where on the map you lived). I looked up mine a couple times, each time making sure I didn't mess up the address, even using different websites, and every time it showed that I lived in a city that I dont live in. It got the state right, though. Why is this? Could it possible be tracking where my internet server is located or something? Oh, and I zoomed in on the image of where I supposedly live, and it looks like a small apartment building...

- http://www.neotrace.com does the same; you can locate someone's ISP (Internet Service Provider) location by looking at the origin of the IP address but you won't get as far as the person sitting at home logged in with the address. Obtaining this kind of information is perfectly legal and can be done by doing a simple WHOIs search (http://www.dnsstuff.com has the WHOIS search option like 100s of sites on the net.). Your ISP could be located in a different state; which shows you are elsewhere. Your ISP however can obtain information on where the assigned IP address is exactly located by owner/subscriber.
- It tracked back to your ISP only.
- The mapping of IP address is not that accurate. It will show the location of YOUR ISP not you.
