IP address?

how do I change my Ip address so that i can connect to my wireless adapter? my pc is telling me that the network did not assign a network address to the computer. I have the Ip address I just need to know how to get it in there?

  1. I think that you are slightly confused. Most modern routers assign IPs to their client computers via DHCP. The wireless adaptor should automatically get one after you have connected to your router. If for some reason it doesnt, go: Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click the one that corresponds to your wireless adaptor and choose Properties Select TCP/IP (last in list in XP) and choose Properties. Here you can enter an IP. If you are connecting to a router it should be in for form 192.168.x.y, where x corresponds to how it is in the router's manual and y is unique for each PC in your house.
