  1. your IP adress is your internet provider adress and it is essentailly like a barcode for computer stuff and if that is on myspace people could probobly hack your computer
  2. Handy Dandy Definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address If you upload anything,do almost anything on the net, and your IP is showing always, so not a severe problem
  3. your IP = Your computer it is something pointing to you ... it is not bad but you can fake your ip using proxies .
  4. simplified an I.P address is the address of your computer , just as you have a home address your computer has one too . The IP address you saw on myspace will not be visible to the general public and is only kept by myspace admin in case a breach has been made in their T.O.S , most sites collect I.P addresses although not many people are aware of this , dont worry about it , its not something you need to concern yourself with . Have a great day!!!
  5. Every computer (or router, in my case) has a separate Internet Protocol Address. This address uniquely identifies your computer on the Internet and can be used to track visitors, ban computers, etc. However, with broadband nowadays, IP addresses can change from time to time or even every time your computer connects to the internet, while some companies such as Comcast give a customer the same IP address for the entire duration of their subscription. Almost any website that you visit logs your IP address. It is not necessarily bad if someone knows your IP address, as long as you have adequate firewall and anti-virus software installed. However, if you are vulnerable, a cracker (malicious hacker) could attempt to gain access to your computer. I wouldn't worry about Myspace, they're pretty helpless.
  6. IP stands for internet protocol. Basically it is a set of numbers used by computers to figure out who is asking for something and where to send something. My current IP address us 172.16.12.56 to give you an example. There is not much worry about people knowing your address, especially depending on the circumstances. Generally you get an address from your Internet provider (Bell/AT&T/etc). Those providers will not allow people to come back to your computer and get in. Each time you log onto those providers they give you a new IP Address so the address you have now may not be the same as the one you have in 2 days from now. Also, if you are at work, etc, then you are probably behind a firewall or an internal router (as I am) and the IP is pretty much insignificant and little can be done to get to your pc. I hope this helps Let me know if it doesn't. Later MiB
  7. an ip address stands for (internet protocol address) it can be thought of as the equivalent of your street address or phone number,so your ip address can uniquely identify a specifice computer,so yes its a bad thing for someone to no it,
