1 what is a IP address 2 Is there anyway through internet u will find out someones IP address. 3 And what if u know a IP address,will u able to identify whose are connected to that IP address (like thier name where they live etc.................) THANKS IN ADVANCE

- IP stands for internet protocol. You can find out anything you want anywhere with the right software. The information legally acquired would be minimal. Not all IP addresses are static. You may get a different address at different times. If this is to find out where Emails are being sent from just right click on email, left on properties & addresses of routing IP's will show up. The information you mention at last is Illegal to acquire. Generally hacker/criminal information
- an ip address is a unique address. like the one at your house. except its a number. most public ip address for comcast dsl services etc are like this 71.155.30.255 you could find someones ip address, but if they have a service like comcast, all you could find would be the city that they live in, and most likely, you will be getting information that is way off the actual value. like i search for mine, it will say that i live in newyork, when im actually way way off there. yahoo something like ip finder to find your own ip anything beyond that requires a lot more learning

And the personal information is protected by law and there are no common services to get that info

I don't think there is any way that you can find someone's IP address without contacting the Internet Service Provider (ISP) If you have someone's IP Address it won't help you much because they change everytime the person connects to the internet. Very few people have static IP addresses because making them dynamic makes the ISP better able to handle its resources. You can't know their address, name etc, unless you contact the ISP, and they probably won't tell you anything. The most you can do if you have their IP Address is ping them: ping -t xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx from a command line.
