Wireless Home Network cannot find the Internet?

I have a wireless home network, the Broadband Modem is conncted using Ethernet cable to my Hub which is then connected to my Computer. The Internet works fine for the PC and I have zero problems with it. However, when I try to acess the Internet using a network adaptor on my laptop I have problems. The adaptor can associate with the access point fine, and the signal is strong. However,it then says the Internet cannot be found, even though it is working fine with the PC. I have restarted everything, refreshed connections etc, the passwords are all corect and they are all on the same channel. It does find the Internet sporadically forabout a minute then it dies again for about hours. I rang the company and used their website but they were no help. The PC and Laptop are both running Windows XP and are both up to date (SP2 and all fixes etc). Anyone have any ideas? Well, here are the extra details. Laptop is using a network adapter connected using a USB cable. The adapter is a linksys WUSB54GR and and the access point is a Linksys WAP54G. It was bought separately from the modem and is the access point/hub. Distance between the access point and the adapter does not affet the problem, I have tried it 3cms apart and 20m apart. Besides, in my question I did say that they are associating fine. I am using WEP 64bit encryption, using standard zone alarm free firewall (but I had he same problem when running windows firewall both on and off). I have DHCP and the laptop and PC are both set to find it automatically. (Also, why a I being a baby?! Or you just a flamer with no life?) BTW, the Internet is fine and running on the PC and laptop when the router/hub/access point is physically connected to either of them, it i just when I am trying to access it wirelessly.

  1. please shorten ur question!!! b'coz the answer is very short.
  2. check to see that DHCP is on/enabled and that ur computer has an IP address that will work with the brodband modem.
  3. We are missing some very important information here: where is the access point in your home network? Is it integrated with the modem? Is it connected to the hub? Thanks for the extra information here. However, I will appear to be no help here. Linksys WAP54G is a pure access point, but not a hub, switch, or router. Thus, your PC can't be connected to it by cable. The only way to make your PC to work is to connect to the modem, at which case there is no wireless. I might be wrong, but I do believe that you need a wireless router instead of WAP54G, which can connect PCs and wireless laptops at the same time.
  4. Don't be such an effing baby!!! Do you have a WEP key? Static IP or DHCP? Firewall? Distance from AP? What kind of wireless on laptop, card or shite USB? Workgroup name? Come on its an effing router not that effing difficult?
