wireless router?
i just bought a laptop off of best buys website, and it says it comes with a wireless LAN built into it. so i know i need to get a wireless router...i have sbc yahoo internet...with the box..will i be able to hook any wireless router up to it and i will get internet on my laptop? is that the only thing you need to buy a wireless router? and it will just hook up to the box? i don't have the laptop yet, i just ordered it..i have a desktop computer here at home, and i just want to make sure i can hook up the wireless router to my internet here

- Ok, is your modem Wireless capable? 'cus if it is, you don't need a Router, the only thing you need is to turn on the wireless capability of the modem.

- most wireless router can function once you plug it in problem is, that it may give you intermittent connection since it is not properly setup or, it will create a hotspot wherein your naighbors can ride in with your internet. my advise to you is either call sbc and get a 2wire home portal or get one of these routers, linksys or dlink. they're the one's that are easy to setup(based on experience of couse) BTW you'll need these codes to access the router config LINKSYS => 192.168.1.1 DLINK 192.168.0.1 hope this helps
- Hey i had the same problem... u have to hook up a outside internet cord like aol or comcastor verizon to a wirless router. then go to control panel and set it up.. It is real easy
- You should know if your running wireless already if your using the laptop without a cable. You should get a message the if wireless is avaliable. If not get a wireless router, try the l(linksys) easy instructions come with it.
