Wireless router?
i just posted the question about a router a few minutes ago, i got responses saying the blue cord was to plug from router to modem. it tells me to plug the ethernet cord into the router and the other end in the modem, but what im saying is then in addition to that it wants me to plug the blue cord into my laptop and run to the router. also i know the service provider has nothing to do with the wirelss, i was just saying they do not offer me the router through them, i had to go buy one bc although i can get wireless here they do not technically provide wireless service to their customers. the cable guy is the one who told me to go buy a router bc it would be cheaper to do that even if they did provide wireless to my area. thats all i meant by that

- The color of the cord doesnt really matter.Even though it says too use a yellow,(patch) cord, you can use any color you want.Just make sure it is at lest equal in whatev specs are printed on it.I am willing to talk you thru the installation, should you need help. All my help is given and offered for free.
- OK. One Cat5 cable needs to run the modem to the internet input to the router. They normally only include one with the unit. If you have a desktop or want to connect your laptop to the router for programming, you will need a second Cat5. Since you want to run wireless, you can cheat and use the cable from one of the 4 ports to the laptop for set up, then use it for modem signal. Some routers will not let you do anything on the output side if there is no input signal. Good reason to have the second one..
