- Wireless Switch / Hub required.
- You only mentioned one computer (the laptop). Do you have a second computer? The question implies that you do. Anyway, assuming you have two computers, connect them both to the router (either wireless or wired connections will work), and connect the router's Internet port to whatever sort of modem you were given by Sky. Set your computers to connect to the Internet through your local network, rather than with the connection information Sky gave you. Now go to your router's configuration interface and enter your Internet connection information in the fields provided for that (check your router's documentation). The router will now handle all connections to the Internet, so you will no longer need the Internet connection software you've been using. As far as why it "always seems to go wrong"...well, there's really not much I can tell you without knowing what specifically is happening. If you can provide more info, I may be able to help more.
