How do I set up wireless home network by wireless Gateway and wireless Access Point (AP)?

Dear all, May I ask if possible that I set up my wireless home network by wireless Gateway and wireless Access Point (AP)? Currently, I got wireless ORINOCO BG2000 and a wireless trendnet Access point and a wired cable modem. My home wireless network is used to work with wireless Gateway and wired cable modem. The connection works fine except I found my room cannot receive the connection signal clearly. May I ask if I can extend my network with wireless Access point? I tried that but the network connection cannot work by receive signal from connect AP to the Gateway nor just to the modem, but only works on a connection of a single wireless Gateway and a wired modem. Any possibility I can improve the performance by adding AP on the connection? Thanks for advise. Regards, Eric

  1. Using wireless expander (aka repeaters) have limited use inside the home. To be honest, wire your home with Cat 5 and use Ethernet and avoid wireless the best you can. Wireless is much slower than Ethernet.
  2. The best bet would be to get a ap ion the same brand as the wireless router and put it into repeater mode this will extend the range of your wireless connection you will need to take down the mac address for each device and add it on the AP
