Wireless router? I think one of my neighbours is tapping into my internet connection through my wireless router, how can I stop this from happening

Wireless router not functioning properly, how can I get the Internet to work? I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (Model Number: WRT54GC) attached to a cable modem. Recently, following a visit by the cable tech for an unrelated manner, my wireless stopped working. After further investigation, I found that the internet is functional from the cable modem directly to the computer. However, once the internet enters the router, it stops working. Wireless Router? My mom got a new wireless router that I am setting up for her. Set-up is Cable Modem, plus a desktop, plus the wireless router for her laptops. The desktop doesn't have a nic card (i took it and havent ever brought it back yet) however she has a linksys usb thing that converts the end of a cat5 cable into a usb.. When I attempted to install the wireless router on my laptop it said that it was not correct for the network adaptor on this laptop. Will this solve my problem or should I mess around witrh the wired router I already have?

wireless router? I have mediacom for my internet and TV. I had a desktop and so i had a a cable running plugged in to it via a modem. well know i have a laptop and i want to go wireless. my friend told me i could get a wireless router. i called best buy and they told me i had to have a desk top to hook it up to so i can also use it for my laptop. while i am do know know a whole lot about computers, but that does not sound right to me. my computer does have a built in wireless card. so what do i need to go wireless? can i just hook up the router to my modem? thanks in advance! ok. well of course that question was not all correct. i meant i do not know alot about puters, but what the guy at best buy said did not seem right. sorry about that!

Wireless Router? I have cable internet at my house, and a computer with a wireless card. I have also bought a wireless router. However, everytime I try to install it- it never works. I have followed the directions exactly, but when it says to unplug the internet cable from the computer and plug it into the router and then plug the router and the computer together, it can never find the router. Any advice? Has anyone else experienced this?

Wireless Router? I have wireless in my apartment because the cable internet is in the living room and I have a laptop. Either way. Ive seemed to have nothing but problems with it Im not sure why. Initially I thought it was my computer, but It can pick up other wireless signals in the neighborhood so I know its not that. My bf told me it was my wireless router or whatnot. I then plugged in my laptop directly into the internet and nothing it stays stuck on acquiring network address. so then it makes me think its the internet. I dont know but Im going crazy because I dont want to pay for internet I cannot even access. Should I try to buy a new wireless router? any reccomendations? I have a netgear one now Ill probably get a different brand. Any clue or idea what is going on? Ive tried unplugging everything and restarting stuff .. still nothing

wireless router? why does most wireless router have connection speed of up to 11 Mpbs or 54 Mpbs only? i am on a monthly plan of speed 100 Mpbs and i own only one laptop.. dose it mean that i will be wasting my money if i get a wireless router? as in that i will be paying more money every month to the internet service provider for the high speed of 100Mpbs but i can only use up to 54Mpbs...????????? by the way.., how much can i get a linksys wireless router in singapore??

wireless router? i have a question about wireless routers. there are two laptops in my house and a desktop. how does the router work, do you just take it outta the box and turn it on and then the computers are connected? and i dont know about the desktop, how would the desktop run off of the router? do the wireless routers come with outlets to plug ethernet cords in them for desktops. i wanna get one but i dont know what else i may or may not have to also buy with it

Wireless router? hi. I use a router since we have 3 computers at home. Although our computers are connected with wires, the router CAN BE USED FOR WIRELESS NETWORK. Recently, the downloading speed of file has been decreased often. So, I took out the wireless antenna thing that sends the signal. AFter that, the internet speed came back normal. Wireless Router? I am trying to connect to the internet via my partners wireless router. Recently I had a virus and had to erase my hard drive. I reinstalled all the programs. Wireless Router? Ok so I just got a Linsky wireless router today for my iPod touch. I was worried about the wireless security because it told me that if i left the network unsecured, then unauthorized users would be able to use the network. I turned the security off because I couldn't get my iPod's internet to work when the security was on. My question is: By leaving the wireless network unsecured, am I vulnerable to any viruses or phishing or anything of that sort? Wireless Router? I've been having a problem with a wireless router my dad bought. I use a computer in my room and I sometmes use his downstairs in the living room. Whenever I try to watch music videos, it never connects to the video and I suddenly lose connection to the internet and I am forced to go downstairs, unplug the router, wait a while, plug it back in, and it works. I want to know how I can watch music videos without getting disconnected all the time.
