Is There Still Hope For A Decent Dell Tablet?

While Dell has for some time been famous for manufacturing cheap Windows based portables and desktops, they have fallen behind their competition in the rush to release a viable tablet COMPUTER that will knock the iPad off its gilded throne. You could argue that they have an entry into the tablet market with the Inspiron Duo, but that is a animal that isn’t really sure whether it wants to be a netbook or a tablet, and yet somehow succeeds in failing to be both. The proof that the purchasing public wasn't truly going for the Duo came when Dell offered it on one of their live swarms at a 30% discount and no-one truly took the bait.

For those outside the UK who may not know what I mean when I talk of swarms, should know that Dell runs one of their products, sometimes a couple of times per week, at an awfully reduced price, and if enough folk accept it, then a Dell voucher code is offered to receive the product at the lower cost. It’s a superb idea, and Dell can get an exceedingly clear picture of what their customers do and do not like based on these swarms, and it became pretty clear that the Duo was not what they wanted.

Earlier in the year, it looked like Dell were taking another crack at the tablet COMPUTER market when word got out about an imminent tablet release called the Peju, although it was also revealed that it'd be marketed more toward working pros, and with a ticket in the thousand buck range, it was not about to compete with any of the big hitters in the customer tablet market.

There may yet be excellent news on the horizon for Dell lovers who are frantic to get their hands on decent tablet from their favorite computer makers, and that news came in two indistinct pictures which were leaked to the tech website Engadget. The pictures show, albeit as though looking thru the base of a half empty lager glass, two footage of a Windows 7 based tablet Computer with a stylus tucked nicely into the side.

It may be a little early for Dell people to become fired up about the possibility of a new tablet PC, as the photographs look like they were taken atop the Golden Gate Bridge with a mist bank getting ready to roll in, meaning that very few details are truly clear enough to get the blood racing. What it does mean though is that Dell may eventually be prepared to take a major crack at the market, and we will only hope that there'll be a pleasant Dell accessories coupon code to go along with the release.

Hans Callaro is a contract blogger covering the IT&C shopper market. He writes about Dell coupon codes and for those in UK it's possible to get an exclusive Dell Alienware voucher if you follow him on Twitter.
