Introducing Yaskawa Servo Motors

For almost one hundred years Yaskawa has been one of the main companies in the field of mechatronics providing an amazing series of motion control products all over the world. The company develops and manufactures such items as inverter drives, motion controllers and servo drives. In the following article I take a look at Yaskawa servo motors and drives including Sigma-2, Sigma V, SmartStep and Junma.

Yaskawa Sigma-2 Servo Motors & Drives

The latest range of Yaskawa servos, Sigma 5, set new standards for competing companies to attempt to match. Sigma-5 servo systems have superb response and also a fabulous settling time (0-4 ms with fine tuning). The Sigma-5 servo amplifier features the industry’s highest performance with advanced autotuning which features load control which is real-time adaptive. With rotary motors available from 50W to 15kW, torque of 0.159 to 95.4Nm, and speeds of up to three thousand RPM. Available in 100V, 200V and 400V models with a frequency response of 1.6 kHz. Linear motors from 12.5 to 2000N at speeds as fast as 5 m/Sec. Both single and three phase are available. With Sigma-5 servo systems available in a wide range you can be sure to find one ideal for your individual requirements.

Yaskawa Sigma-2 Servo Motors & Drives

Sigma II rotary and linear servomotors have proven reliability in terms of quality and performance they are unbeatable. The servo amplifiers of the Sigma 2 range are very compact and have analogue and pulse inputs. Automated functions include motor recognition and tuning. Sigma-2 motors are available in 5 linear and six rotary models. Optional cards provide facilities for motion controllers, field busses and indexers and command references, torque and speed can be captured using the SigmaWin and SigmaWin + software.

Yaskawa Sigma II servo motors are available from 30W to 55kW, torque of 0.09 to 350Nm, and speeds as fast as  six thousand RPM. Available in input voltages of 100VAC / 230VAC / 480VAC and three phase or single phase versions. With Sigma II servo systems available in a wide range of models you can be certain to find a model ideal for your specific application requirements.

Junma Servo Systems

Junma systems supply a low cost solution for medium inertia compact servo systems. The Junma motors and drives have the quality and reliability you would expect of Yaskawa products. Delivering high accuracy, high response, high speed and high torque these servos give plug and play ease of use, with no setting up required. Junma servo systems are available with powers from 100W-750W, torque 0.318 to 2.39Nm, and speeds of up to 4500 RPM, available with suitable single phase drives.

Yaskawa Smartstep

SmartStep servo systems provide an easy route to progress from the simplicity of stepper systems to the capability of servo. Using dip switches pulse train inputs can be configured and the remaining setup procedure is performed by auto-tuning. Yaskawa SmartStep benefits include 300% peak current for start up. SmartStep servos are available with motor powers from 30W to 750W (torque 0.09 to 2.39Nm) with speeds of up to 3000 RPM, with single phase drives.

If you wish to know more about Yaskawa servos you will need to contact Yaskawa themselves themselves alternatively it may be better to make contact with a local distributor who might be more eager to help. In the UK one of the most respected official distributors of Yaskawa inverter drives is Goodwin Electronics.
