How Can You Find a Qualified Network Engineer?

When in the market for networking and networking solutions, it may occur to you that you will need a network engineer.  A network engineer is one that must be familiar with the internal plumbing of a computer and network. This includes the T1 lines, configuring routers, and some UNIX work.  An engineer will need to know how to use basic devices in order to maintain the network. You must think on your feet as well as work long days in order to keep things up and running.

A computer network engineer can have special training in order to work on the system, but a lot of experience comes from the job itself.  These types of engineers are information technology professionals that implement and design networks for computers. Some of the tasks that he or she will perform include media and protocols , networking devices, cables and network switches just to name a few of the things that an engineer is responsible for. The duties for an engineer differ from those that follow a network administrator. While some may have responsibilities for only one part of the network, others may be responsible for the entire network.

A network engineer is also responsible for maintaining and supporting the communications of the computers on the network.  There are many different types of networks such as GANS (Global area networks) LANS (Local Area Network) or MANS (metropolitan area networks). This can also include duties such as monitoring network usage, providing training and support for those that have varying levels of IT knowledge. They also work closely with other departments to keep the system running.  Managing websites and keeping internal networks going is another duty of an engineer.

So you can see why a network engineer is so important to a network. Their duties are many and they work long hours. Without an engineer, the system and network would soon fail and leave a business stranded with no way to get the network back up again. The network engineer will also be charged with possibly similar tasks to that of network administrators.  So there is a lot of similarity and overlap from one to the next.  However, a network engineer is more responsible for the network than the system administrator. So it is understood how important this position is in any company that has any type of networking facilities.
